Dr Jauad El Kharraz
Biography
Dr. Jauad El Kharraz is the Executive Director of the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), an intergovernmental organization with diplomatic status based in Cairo with 17 Arab countries onboard. He has been working as a senior expert/advisor/evaluator for several international institutions and boards (e.g. European Commission, EU-GCC CETN) and member of IDA, European Desalination Society, Oman Energy Majlis). Dr. El Kharraz has been Director of Research at the Middle East Desalination Research Center, Oman (2015-2020).
He has been projects manager at EMWIS (2004-2015) in France and researcher at the university of Valencia (1998-2003). He obtained his MSc and PhD degrees in Physics, University of Valencia, Spain and a diploma in enterprises management and strategies from SKEMA Business School, France. He brings over 20 years of experience in various sustainability fields including energy and water policies, desalination, water-energy-food nexus. He coordinated and contributed to international programs (e.g. FP5-FP7, H2020, ENPI CBC Med, PRIMA). Additionally, he carried out projects for international donors such as GIZ, SIDA, IsDB and USAID. He chaired and contributed to the development of an important number of papers, policy briefs, policies and events worldwide.
